Scott Riner personal constellation, an abstract X shaped object

Scott Riner
Student Editor

is a student in Saint Francis University’s English program. For Scott, there’s nothing better in the world than to be captivated by a good story. His dream of becoming a published writer was achieved in 2019, when he won a national writing contest for his short story "The Grandfather Clock." Outside of the literary world, he enjoys hiking and kayaking.
Favorite authors: Shirley Jackson, Neil Gaiman, Susanna Clarke, Edgar Allan Poe, Joe Hill
What he's looking for: A well-written piece so engaging that I lose track of time and place and become "one" with the story.

Olivia Theisen
Student Editor

is an Aquarium and Zoo Science major with an interest in education. She has used writing as an important form of creative expression throughout her childhood and she is enjoying continuing that passion into college. Olivia enjoys all kinds of art, but has a soft spot for fairytale retellings. Outside of writing, she also enjoys theatre and music.
Favorite authors: Neil Gaiman, Elizabeth Lim, Julie C. Dao, Julie Murphy
What she's looking for: Pieces that make me think and wonder and that show reflections of the world at it’s best and worst. I’d like to be drawn into a place of wonder and reflection.
Olivia Theisen personal constellation, a butterfly
Tara Fritz personal constellation, a flower

Tara Fritz
Managing Editor

is a 2017 graduate of Saint Francis University's English program and a 2020 graduate of the Creative Writing MFA program at George Mason University, where she spent three years as Fiction Editor for So to Speak Journal. She has an affinity for the woods, Earl Grey tea, and surreal, uncanny stories. Her own work has most recently appeared in Peatsmoke, Southchild Lit, The Wondrous Real, and others.
Favorite authors: Donna Tartt, Karen Russell, Carmen Maria Machado, Kristen Arnett, Tana French
What she's looking for: Language and concept that really grab me. I want to start reading a piece and not be able to put it down, and still be thinking of it for days afterward.

Dr. Brennan Thomas
Faculty Editor

is an associate professor of English who recently began exploring the fun, challenging worlds of flash fiction and microfiction. When not teaching writing (her full-time job) or driving her family crazy (her part-time job), she enjoys relaxing on the beach, camping, and spending time with her two precocious dogs, one of whom is sitting on her lap whenever she’s reading your submissions.
Favorite authors: Anne Lamott, Bobbie Ann Mason, N. Scott Momaday, Toni Morrison
What she's looking for: Writing populated with people I believe I could meet, places I believe I could visit, and experiences I believe I could have.
